A school for Attawapiskat

Peterborough Politics: Shining The Light On Attawapiskat

Weyp,

The children involved in this fight for a school have proven themselves brave and beautiful, and it's time for the federal government to reward their patience. Give them a school. It is time for these students to become students again.

It is a grave injustice for the federal government to delay any further a good, strong building befitting of these students. Give them a school.

Trying to make do in old, run-down 'portables' is beyond a farce. They need a school with a gymnasium, library, science lab, computer lab, first aid room, and everything else that a school contains.

A school is never just a school. It's a community centre. It's a place for people from out of town to visit. It's the place you're sending your children everyday. You want them to be safe and secure. You want them to be comfortable.

So, to the government of Canada, I make a demand, give the community and the children of Attawapiskat a school. To the Conservative Party, I make a demand, give the community and the children of Attawapiskat a school. To the Minister of Indian Affairs, Chuck Strahl, I make a demand, give the community and the children of Attawapiskat a school.

Again, thanks to Cameron Holmstrom (aka northwestern_lad) for shining his lamplight onto this important issue. Please visit his blog, and also post the picture and link onto your site to show your support. It may seem only a small endeavour, but if enough of us can raise our voices in unison, we will help get these students their school.
